Big Food is a being made of food. Her first and only appearance was in the episode Big Food.

History[]

Initially assumed to be some kind of Bigfoot-like that only exists in people's imaginations (and trashy tabloids), it's eventually revealed that Big Food's actually an old washed-up actress who has long since faded from the public eye -- now living a secluded life as a recluse, she tries reliving her glory days as an actress by watching her old movies while occasionally stealing food from campers (like Chowder, Mung and Shnitzel) in order to get by.

After stumbling on her home and discovering that she is in fact real, Big Food (clearly not mentally stable) mistakes Chowder for Flax (apparently Big Food's old co-star/assistant/butler) and starts making demands of him. When Chowder asks that he come with her to his campsite so he can prove that she's real to Mung and Shnitzel, Big Food misinterprets this as her making a comeback as an actress -- but when Chowder crashes her car while trying to get her to the campsite he's sharing with Mung and Shnitzel, Big Food loses hope about making a comeback.

Chowder then starts serenading her, which helps her to feel better -- but when she asks him to help her recreate a scene from one of her old movies, Chowder accidentally eats her (since Big Food is still made entirely of food). Despite what happened, Chowder (after making it back to his campsite) is ultimately able to prove to Mung and Shnitzel that is in fact real -- it turns out that the old actress is (somehow) still alive in Chowder's stomach, where she's happy to be reunited with all of her "old friends" from her days as an actress.

Mung and Shnitzel are shocked that Chowder was right about Big Food being real and then wonder what else Chowder could've been right about.

Trivia / Facts[]

  • Her name is a pun on Bigfoot, a mythical creature supposed to live in the forests of North America.
  • Big Food used to be a movie star.
  • Her home is now in Chowder's tummy with other food he ate.
  • She dislikes popcorn but was seen eating it anyway.
  • Before fading into obscurity, Big Food appears to have been a huge star during the show's equivalent to Hollywood's Golden Age.
  • Her character is an obvious homage to Norma Desmond of Sunset Boulevard. In much the same way, her butler 'Flax' is a reference to Norma's butler 'Max', and her assuming that she will have a 'comeback' in the acting world is directly referencing the movie's plot.
